Refused to be a leader.
2008.01.25.Fri / 11:03
CORRECTED
Several years ago, when the Japanese economy was very bad the company, my husband works for, laid off many regular employees and employed temporary staff to cut down on costs. A lot of the temporary staff can't work as well as the experienced workers and regular employees' amount of work increased excessively.
As a result some employees suffered from mental sickness. The company gives them a long break or changes their position, but they've never tried what is necessary to change the situation.

My husband manages some working groups at work and each group has a leader. He asked one of his junior workers about changing position to be a leader. But he refused and also took a few days unscheduled holidays.
My husband was worried if his offer made the junior worker feel pressured.
Companys have a right to change their employees' positions but my husband can't get this junior worker to be a leader.
My husband said if he can refuse his position like the junior worker he will do it. And so will I.

×staffs → staff (グループ毎にひとつとして数える)

×each groups → each group

○give up = 何か(物や事そのもの)をあきらめる。
○give up on = 〜は不可能だと思って見切りをつける

<low possibilities> If I played tennis, I would be stronge.
<high possibilities> If I play tennis, I will be stronge.
<impossible> If I were a woman, I would have 3 kids.

He is impatient.
2007.09.03.Mon / 12:04
My husband and I were supposed to go to a soba restaurant for lunch. We left home a little after one pm.
The parking was almost full with cars, but I could see some empty tables. However, he didn't stop to ask the staff how long we had to wait. He is impatient and always does that.
Then we visited to other two restaurants two other restaurants that seemed to be busy.
I asked him if we were going to a Sri Lanka restaurant.
I like Sri Lanka curry very much, but he doesn't. So we rarely go there. To my glad, To my delight, he said yes. Maybe he was tired to find too tired to look for another restaurant.
By the way, I always think that we could eat faster to wait the first restaurant than to move to other restaurant. get seated faster waiting at the first restaurant than move to other restaurant.

Changing the doctor.
2007.08.31.Fri / 10:24
My father had cancer surgery three month ago.
After the operation my parents explained that the doctor cut away every tumor and my father was going to be OK.
However, his cancer has recured in the same area.
It has spread wider and it's impossible to cut them away. The doctor recommend him another treatment. The patients who have the same treatment have a 70% chance of surviving.
The doctor said that 70% of surviving rate was high as cancer. However, we couldn't agree that a 30% chance of death! We were very surprised and couldn't believe the doctor.

We desperately searched the information and discussed a lot. Then we decided that change the hospital to a cancer specialty clinic.
We went to the hospital my father had been going. Then we asked the doctor if he could change the hospital. My father didn't want to make the doctor's feel bad. He explained that I live near the hospital and it's convenient to go.
Then the doctor discovered that the hospital we expected was the expert many type of cancer but not my father's.

We have no time to find another doctor. Wasting time will decline his surviving rate quickly.
We decided that he takes the treatment in the same doctor. However, the doctor got angry and suggested us change the hospital. We had to flatter. At last the doctor accepted it.

We were exhausted, before my father receives the treatment.
