I had dinner with my parents.
2007.06.30.Sat / 10:47
CORRECTED
I used to go to my father's office by car. My parents lived in the same city as the office. And I sometimes went to their house after work.
However, I changed my commute to work by train. After that I have not gone there because their house is in inconvenient area without car.

By the way, my husband went out for drinking with his workers last night. I usually have to pick him up at a station but he decided to stay at a hotel because of the next day's work. It was a good chance for me.
I enjoyed dinner with my parents and my brother. They seemed to be glad to meet me. My brother brought his PC and asked me something. Funnily, my father wanted to use it. He was never interested in PC.

I love them very much.

Is a suitcase heavy for me?
2007.06.25.Mon / 11:00
CORRECTED
I am thinking about my luggage to Malta. My husband has a big Boston bag, and I thought it was not bad for one week travel. However, he worried if someone cut it and recommended me buy a hard suitcase. I agree hard suitcase will be better for security, but I have to carry it by myself for this trip. So I worry that suitcase would be heavy and big for steps and buses.

I don't need a Doraemon's button.
2007.06.19.Tue / 00:06
CORRECTED
When nothing goes right I remember Doraemon's button.
This was a memorable tool for me. When Nobita was in a trouble with his friend, he muttered that he wished his friend disappeared.
Then Doraemon gave him a button. When Nobita pushed the button his enemy disappeared. He was afraid of it. While, on another day, when his family were against to him, he pushed the button again. His family disappeared.
One morning when he woke up, nobody was in the world.
This was just a comic story but it made me feel strong.
I can't change the people around me. I can't escape from my troubles. I should be strong.

I hadn't thought about racism deeply.
2007.06.11.Mon / 15:25
CORRECTED
I've booked my travel to Malta this autumn and so I looked up information about Malta on the INTERNET. According to some articles, there aren't many Asians including Japanese. This was a reason why I chose Malta. This would be good for improving my English skills. However, surprisingly we stand out and some trouble has happened which was caused by our nationality. A Japanese girl was thrown eggs and another girl was shouted bad things by some men. I was really frightened. I sought more information. Three incidents happened recently by Chinese. This was the reason why some Maltese disliked Asian. Many incidents caused by racism have been happening all over the world. However, I hadn't thought about it deeply.

Talk about toilets.
2007.06.09.Sat / 11:40
CORRECTED
We talked up a storm about the difference of toilets in each country. In America, toilet doors do not go all the way to the floor, but stop at the knee.
People said that the toilets in China are very dirty and that they have no doors.
I talked about Japanese toilets. They have many functions; wash-toilet system, seat heater, Otohime (sound for covering natural sounds).
They make our toilet time comfortable. However, on the other hand, I am worried for foreigners or handicapped people. Even I, a person who can read Japanese, sometimes spend time for finding the flush button. There are either too many buttons or no buttons at all because of sensors.
I think we need some standardization of products.

A rich dinner...?
2007.06.07.Thu / 13:57
CORRECTION
I was supposed to cook chicken with eggplant in tomato sauce last night.
First, I sauted some pieces of chicken, then added sliced eggplant and onion. When I added a can of tomato sauce I realised that it was not tomato sauce but bolognese. I had no time to buy a can of tomatoes, so I added the bolognese. We ate chicken and beef in the same dish.

Girls dream to be a ballerina.
2007.06.05.Tue / 14:40
CORRECTED
Many girls dream to be ballerinas, don't they?
I was one of them. When I was in elementary school, I went to a ballet school that a classmate of mine belonged to.
Those days I was very fat and wasn't good at sports. The girls wore cute leotards, but I wore school gym suit (a T-shirt and bloomers).
I was very embarrassed and I thought I was not the type to be a ballerina.
Since then, I had forgotten the memory. However, one of my coworkers told me that she has been learning ballet for five years. Surprisingly, she started it when she was in her 40's. Of course that's too late to become a profssional ballerina, but it was good exercise for her. She is slim and her gestures are elegant.
Much time has passed since childhood, but her story reignited my childhood dream.

Candle Night
2007.06.01.Fri / 07:53
CORRECTED
Have you heard of "Candle Night" before?
This is an effort to address global warming. People turn their electric lights off and light a candle instead for two hours in the summer solstice night.
This is a good opportunity to think about global warming. However, I have my doubts about the effect.
Because this activity is only for two hours of the year, and people need a candle for the night.
I think it would be better that the family get together in one room and turn lights off other rooms', or we start daylight savings time in Japan.
