Changing the doctor.
2007.08.31.Fri / 10:24
My father had cancer surgery three month ago.
After the operation my parents explained that the doctor cut away every tumor and my father was going to be OK.
However, his cancer has recured in the same area.
It has spread wider and it's impossible to cut them away. The doctor recommend him another treatment. The patients who have the same treatment have a 70% chance of surviving.
The doctor said that 70% of surviving rate was high as cancer. However, we couldn't agree that a 30% chance of death! We were very surprised and couldn't believe the doctor.

We desperately searched the information and discussed a lot. Then we decided that change the hospital to a cancer specialty clinic.
We went to the hospital my father had been going. Then we asked the doctor if he could change the hospital. My father didn't want to make the doctor's feel bad. He explained that I live near the hospital and it's convenient to go.
Then the doctor discovered that the hospital we expected was the expert many type of cancer but not my father's.

We have no time to find another doctor. Wasting time will decline his surviving rate quickly.
We decided that he takes the treatment in the same doctor. However, the doctor got angry and suggested us change the hospital. We had to flatter. At last the doctor accepted it.

We were exhausted, before my father receives the treatment.

At a cafe.
2007.08.23.Thu / 13:49
I sometimes drink coffee at a food court in a station before work.
I like reading books at a cafe. I can concentrate on books at cafes more than at home. I see many students stay and study there. The space would be good for studying in hot days.
I saw two high school boys occupied two tables and eight seats this morning. They hadn't ordered any drink, and brought some foods from a convenience store. The food court was not full this early morning. They didn't put me at any disadvantage. Even that, their behavior got on my nerve.
The other day at other cafe, I saw other high school students. They did the same thing as the boys I saw today.
At that time the cafe's staff asked them order something for drink. They neither ordered nor apologized. They said, "Whatever! It's not your business!" as they left the shop. (It was the staff's business, I thought.)
People say that we can't stand other peoples' behavior when we get old. Should I do not mind others' bad manner?

I reach my short term goal.
2007.08.21.Tue / 14:10
I've been reading easy English books for more than one year. The first aim was 1,000,000 words and I expected to reach it in this month.
I bought a book, "Harry Potter" five years ago. I searched every unknown word with dictionary. And I spend much time every page. Of course I was not able to enjoy it and gave it up.
This was why I thought that Harry Potter was the best book when I reach my short term goal.
A few years ago I've read this book in Japanese. Therefore, I can follow the story now, although I don't search any words.
However, it is still difficult and my understanding in about 80%. I need to read it again one day.
Anyway, I met the goal and my next goal will be 2,000,000 words.

behave as a member of company.
2007.08.13.Mon / 15:00
Our company has intranet website. When we want to throw out unnecessary things, such as PCs, desks, we put on a message for reuse. I found an announcement and got a drawer. I thought that it would be the right size for a space between desks. I brought the drawer by my self with a dolly. When I opened a door, some colleague immediately stood up and helped me.
By the way, there is a coworker in his late 20's in our group. He had been doing only his own work. He had never helped us if we wouldn't ask him a help. I thought that our company was his first place to work and nobody taught him how to behave as a member of company. I thought he just didn't know.
However, he was different today. He helped me to move the drawer. I was glad like his mother:)

cockroach
2007.08.10.Fri / 07:30
I occasionally saw a cockroach in the kitchen. After I rid my house of it I hadn't seen it in few years. So I thought that the cockroach maybe came from outside.
My husband saw another cockroach this week. He said that it was adult insect. The next day, I could catch it. I was relieved. I won't see another one in few years. However, I saw a baby cockroach last night. No! I bet the adult cockroach gave the birth! How many cockroaches does live in my house?

Hadashi-no Gen
2007.08.05.Sun / 14:23
Summer has come. It's the time we think about the past war. I watched a TV program information yesterday. The title was "Hadashi-no Gen (Barefoot Gen)".
This was a story about a survivor of an atomic bomb.
We used to watch movies about the war every summer. Teachers gathered all of the students and showed movies. These images were shocking for children.
I was frightened and disliked the time.

Even today, I can remember about the movies. I believe that there is no excuse starting any war.
Maybe, the teachers' hope for peace has spread to us.
